British Cycling Level 2 Leadership Award

A close friend's commitment to gaining an outdoor qualification has spurred me on to start the process of mountain bike leadership.

Its nearly ten years since I have done an outdoor training course and see this point as the perfect time to start a new one.  I have spent the past 5 years becoming a more proficient and energized mountain biker, sacrificing other sports in the quarry.

However, time spent as an aspirant BCU level three kayak coach and SPA/ML trained person puts me in good position to gain maximum knowledge from the training course.

 6th/7th July here we come...

  1. BC L2 mtb training review.

    Cyclewise at whinlatter did not disappoint. A very professional, educational and motivating course.

    The course ran.over two days, with day one predominantly classroom based and day two in the hills.

    The importance of professionalism and proficient riding was preached with emphasis on quality leadership to create a safe flowing ride.

    I gained valuable knowledge and skills from the course including;
    Bike set up, maintainence and trailside repairs;
    Remit of the award;
    Bike handling skills...track stands;
    leadership techniques;
    Leaders kit;
    Confidence in my own skills.

    looking to undertake the assessment in the autum.
