A Gentle Reminder

Every now and again we need a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong!

Myself, Rach and Tom were enjoying the early morning Sunday sun when we came across a nasty mtb accident.

I am not going to comment on how the group dealt with the incident, but the whole event highlights why you should carry certain emergency equipment (and know how to use it).

We didn't need to use many skills other than people management, but I think our trianing made us stay calm as we knew we were happy with the current situation and knew what to do if the situation had worsened (thankfully for the guy involved it didnt).

FYI The casualty had hit a tree, gone over the bars and had suspected broken pelvis (later confirmed).  He was in considerable pain but remained conscious throughout.

I would like to add that the professionalism of both the land and air based emergency crews was admirable.  I think the three of us learnt valuable knowledge from watching them work.

Everyday is a leaning day!
